Gustavo Lacau is a hand surgeon and specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology from Venezuela. He is also a microsurgeon, trained at MD Anderson Houston, Texas , an Arthroscopic surgeon specializing in Wrist, Thumb and Elbows, trained in Chicago, Illinois and Miami. He is a member of the Latin American Forum, Johnson & Johnson, Latin American Speaker Leader for MSD. He trained in advance hand surgery procedures like INTEGRA Skin Graft, SBI ELEKTRA prosthesis, Volar plate treatment for Distal Radius Fracture. He pioneered the use of Artelon for CMC Joint Arthritis, as well as Neuro tube and Neura graft, becoming one of the first surgeons in Latin America to perform and lead these procedures. He is a member of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Venezuelan Society of Hand Surgery, Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of Upper Limb Arthroscopy, 2014-2016. He won the Hand Surgery National Award, "Arthroscopy Technique for Scaphoid Pseudarthrosis" in 2014. He has had wide experience with professional and high-performance athletes in Baseball, Tennis, Golf and Cross-fit. He has also experience in education, and is a member of the World Baseball Trainer Academy, Venezuela Chapter, and developed the academic fellowship program for hand surgeons.
